South Coast Railway wraps up level crossing safety drive

The Visakhapatnam Division of South Coast Railway completed a week-long level crossing safety awareness campaign for International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD) 2026 under the theme ‘Alert Today, Safe Tomorrow’.

The campaign included rallies, outreach programs, and street plays involving Civil Defence volunteers, Civil Engineering personnel, and Railway Safety staff to promote safe practices at railway crossings.

The campaign concluded with a rally from the Divisional Railway Manager’s Office, attended by Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra and senior officials. A street play at Dondaparthi highlighted unsafe behaviors and the importance of vigilance.

Mr. Bohra emphasized the need for public awareness and strict adherence to safety rules to prevent accidents, urging people to obey warning signals, avoid trespassing, and exercise caution at crossings.

Throughout the week, officials and volunteers conducted drives at level crossing gates and public areas, distributing safety pamphlets and educating the community about the dangers of ignoring signals and unauthorized track crossing.
