Vizag’s MGCHRI Ranked Among India’s Top 10 Oncology Hospitals
Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital & Research Institute (MGCHRI), Visakhapatnam, has been ranked ninth among the Best Oncology Hospitals in India in the prestigious Outlook Best Hospital Ranking 2026, reinforcing its position as one of the country’s leading centres for cancer care.
Announcing the achievement at a press conference on Friday, Managing Director and Chief Surgical Oncologist Dr. Murali Krishna Voonna said MGCHRI has also been recognised as the top oncology hospital in Andhra Pradesh. It is the only dedicated cancer hospital from the State to feature among the country’s top 10 oncology hospitals.
“The recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to delivering advanced, evidence-based, and patient-centric cancer care,” Dr. Murali Krishna said, adding that the honour was a testament to the trust reposed in the institute by patients and the tireless efforts of its doctors, nurses, and support staff over the past two decades.
Highlighting the institute’s milestones, he said MGCHRI has treated more than two lakh cancer patients, performed over 25,000 cancer surgeries, delivered around 30,000 radiation therapy sessions, completed more than 500 robotic surgeries, and carried out over 200 bone marrow transplants.
The hospital offers comprehensive cancer care supported by advanced technologies, including TomoTherapy Radixact X9, robotic surgery, TOF PET-CT, bone marrow transplantation, precision oncology, molecular diagnostics, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy. These facilities enable the institute to provide specialised treatment for a wide range of cancers.
Dr. Murali Krishna said the institute would continue to strengthen its clinical services, adopt emerging technologies, and expand access to quality cancer care for patients from Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring States.
