Rear Admiral C. Raghuram takes charge as HSL CMD
Rear Admiral Chandrasekharan Raghuram, Vishisht Seva Medal (Retd.), assumed charge as the Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), Visakhapatnam, on Wednesday.
Commissioned into the Indian Navy on November 10, 1989, Rear Admiral Raghuram served for over 35 years in a distinguished career spanning operational, technical and leadership appointments. A specialist in naval engineering, he has extensive expertise in ship maintenance, warship design, combat systems integration, strategic planning, and equipment life cycle management. He was conferred the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) in 2017 for his distinguished service.
An alumnus of the Naval College of Engineering, Lonavala, Cranfield University, United Kingdom, the Naval War College and the National Defence College, Rear Admiral Raghuram has served aboard frontline warships, including INS Gomati and INS Trishul, and was part of the commissioning crew of INS Trishul.
During his naval career, he held several key appointments, including Commanding Officer of INS Valsura, Principal Director (Electrical Engineering) at the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Navy), Command Electrical Officer at the Eastern Naval Command, Chief Staff Officer (Technical) at the Western Naval Command, and senior technical leadership roles at the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai, and Naval Headquarters.
Before taking over at HSL, he served as Assistant Chief of Materiel, overseeing the maintenance and operational readiness of critical naval platforms.
According to an official release, Rear Admiral Raghuram will focus on strengthening HSL’s strategic role in defence shipbuilding while advancing India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing through enhanced indigenous capabilities.
