Vice Admiral K. Srinivas conferred Ati Vishisht Seva Medal

Vice Admiral K. Srinivas, Director General of Naval Projects, Visakhapatnam, was conferred the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) by President Droupadi Murmu for distinguished service of an exceptional order.

The medal was presented at an investiture ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Regarded as one of India’s highest peacetime military decorations, the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal is conferred on personnel for distinguished service of an exceptional order.

According to the Indian Navy, the award recognises Vice Admiral Srinivas’ contribution to strengthening the Navy’s operational capabilities and enhancing the country’s defence preparedness through his leadership, technical expertise, and strategic vision.

A native of Nimmakuru village in Andhra Pradesh’s Krishna district, Vice Admiral Srinivas was commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1990. He assumed charge as Director General of Naval Projects, Visakhapatnam, on November 1, 2025, after serving as Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam.

Vice Admiral Srinivas is an alumnus of Sainik School, Korukonda, and the National Defence Academy. During a career spanning more than 35 years, he has held a range of operational, technical, and strategic appointments.

His sea-going assignments included service on board the erstwhile aircraft carrier INS Viraat. He also served as Warship Production Superintendent at Severodvinsk, Russia, where he supervised the repair and re-equipping of INS Vikramaditya.

Before being appointed Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam, Vice Admiral Srinivas commanded INS Shivaji. He subsequently took over as Assistant Chief of Materiel (Dockyards and Refit), overseeing key dockyard maintenance and refit programmes, before assuming charge as Admiral Superintendent.

Vice Admiral Srinivas is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, the erstwhile Naval War College at Karanja, and the National Defence College, New Delhi.
