MP Sribharat Flags Off ISVIR Vascular Health Walkathon In Vizag
Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat on Saturday flagged off a public health awareness walkathon organised by the Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology as part of the ISVIR Midterm Complication Meet-2026.
The walkathon saw participation from doctors, members of Vizag Runners, medical students, healthcare professionals, and representatives of various voluntary organisations. Participants walked through the city to highlight the importance of vascular health, preventive healthcare, and early diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Sribharat said Visakhapatnam had grown into a leading healthcare hub in the region, with notable progress in medical education, services, and patient care. He added that there was still scope to expand super-speciality services, strengthen medical infrastructure, and increase the availability of skilled specialists to meet rising demand.
Calling Interventional Radiology one of the most significant advances in modern medicine, the MP said minimally invasive, image-guided procedures were changing the way vascular disorders and other complex conditions are treated. Such procedures, he noted, offer safer options for patients, shorter hospital stays, quicker recovery, and better clinical outcomes compared to conventional surgery.
Mr. Sribharat said wider adoption of advanced technologies like Interventional Radiology would improve healthcare delivery by expanding access to specialised treatment and reducing the burden on patients. He also lauded ISVIR for its efforts to raise public awareness and promote excellence in specialised care through scientific meetings and outreach programmes.
