Andhra Medical College ranks 13th nationally in IIRF rankings
Andhra Medical College (AMC) has secured 13th place among medical colleges nationwide in the latest rankings released by the Indian Institutional Rankings Framework (IIRF).
With an overall score of 937, AMC also emerged fourth among medical colleges in South India, marking a significant recognition of the century-old institution’s academic and institutional performance. AIIMS, New Delhi, topped the national rankings with a score of 953.
The IIRF rankings assess government and private medical colleges and higher education institutions on a range of academic, research and institutional parameters. AMC was evaluated in six key categories: Teaching, Learning Resources and Pedagogy; Research Outcome; Innovative Medical Infrastructure; Social Inclusion; Future Orientation; and External Perception.
The college scored 158.47 in Teaching, Learning Resources and Pedagogy, 159.57 in Research Outcome, 153.67 in Innovative Medical Infrastructure, 155.33 in Social Inclusion, 153.33 in Future Orientation and 150.83 in External Perception.
The assessment covered several aspects of the institution’s functioning, including infrastructure, faculty-student ratio, teaching resources, student facilities, research publications and outcomes, and opportunities available to students after completing their courses.
College authorities said the national recognition would further strengthen AMC’s reputation and could attract students from other States to pursue medical education at the institution.
The college’s strong research performance was a key factor in its high ranking. Officials said the recognition would encourage AMC to expand further its research projects, publications and academic collaborations.
‘A matter of honour’
AMC Principal Dr. KVSM Sandhyadevi described the 13th rank as a matter of honour for the institution. “We consider it an honour that Andhra Medical College has secured the 13th position at the national level. The achievement reflects our performance in several areas, including infrastructure, teaching and research,” she said.
Dr. Sandhyadevi also expressed confidence that the college would secure a good position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings, which are expected to be released shortly.
“The ranking is an encouragement for our continued efforts and a moment of pride for our students. We will continue to work towards securing higher positions in national-level rankings in the future,” she said.
