Teachers’ real recognition lies in transforming students’ lives: Sribharat
Teachers’ contribution to society cannot be measured by awards and honours, as their real recognition lies in the lives they transform, Visakhapatnam MP Matukumilli Sribharat said on Saturday.
Addressing the Teachers’ Day celebrations organised by the District Education Department at the YVS Murthy Auditorium of Andhra University, Sribharat said teachers played a vital role in shaping students into responsible and productive citizens.
He said Teachers’ Day was an occasion to remember educators who had made a lasting difference to students, including through contributions that extended well beyond the classroom. “Several teachers have played an important role in shaping my own life,” he said, stressing the need to acknowledge their influence on society.
Sribharat called for teachers who go beyond their assigned duties, devote additional time to students and support their academic and personal development to be identified, encouraged and recognised.
Government Whip and Visakhapatnam West MLA Gana Babu and District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore attended the programme. The dignitaries paid floral tributes to former President and eminent educationist Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is observed as Teachers’ Day.
As many as 80 teachers were honoured for their outstanding contribution to education.
The MP also welcomed the rise in enrolment in government schools, saying it was an indication of growing public confidence in government educational institutions. He appreciated teachers, headmasters and Education Department officials for their efforts to improve the quality of education.
Sribharat said the MPLADS funds available to him were being utilised in a planned manner, with education and healthcare being accorded priority. Strengthening these two sectors, he said, was essential to improving quality of life and creating better opportunities for the younger generation.
He urged teachers, education officials and other stakeholders to work together to ensure quality education for every student and provide dedicated educators with the recognition and support they deserve.
