Hard work, determination can overcome background, political legacy: Venkaiah Naidu

Hard work, perseverance and determination can help people overcome their background and political legacy to achieve success, former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu said on Friday.

Addressing the valedictory session of the two-day regional round of the Young Indians Parliament (YIP) at GITAM University, Naidu urged youngsters to pursue their goals with commitment and stay focused in the face of challenges.

Recalling his journey from a humble background to becoming the Vice-President of India, Naidu said a person’s background should not decide their future. He said the willingness to work hard and remain focused on one’s goals was key to success.

The regional round, organised by Yi Visakhapatnam, brought together youngsters from across the region for parliamentary debates, discussions and leadership activities. The programme introduced participants to parliamentary procedures and democratic institutions while helping them develop skills in debate, public speaking and leadership.

Young Indians National Chair Arun Rathod said the youth had an important role in nation-building. Programmes such as YIP, he said, could prepare youngsters for leadership roles and encourage them to contribute to society.

Visakhapatnam MP Sribharat Mathukumilli advised participants to choose their friends with care and pursue their interests with dedication.

Awards were presented to outstanding participants in categories such as Best Treasury Bench Member, Best Parliamentarian, Best Speaker and Parliamentary Leadership.

The event gave youngsters practical exposure to parliamentary-style proceedings and helped them understand democratic institutions, public debate and the responsibilities that come with leadership.
