Wildlife of Andhra Pradesh in focus at Hawa Mahal
The diverse wildlife and habitats of Andhra Pradesh will be showcased through 150 photographs in a two-day exhibition at Hawa Mahal on October 3 and 4.
Organised by WildVizag in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department and the Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve (NSTR), the exhibition is part of World Wildlife Week 2026.
Twenty-three wildlife photographers from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu will take part, showcasing images of the State’s forests, wetlands, grasslands, coastal habitats, protected areas and wildlife.
The exhibition will also feature information on the State’s wildlife sanctuaries, highlighting their ecological significance and the species they support.
“The idea is to showcase the rich biodiversity of Andhra Pradesh and spread awareness. The show is intended to help visitors understand the forests and protected areas behind the photographs and the conservation work being undertaken there,” said Arunkumar Thyadi, a documentary filmmaker associated with the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department.
The NSTR team will display equipment used by forest personnel for wildlife monitoring and protection, including surveillance cameras, drones, tranquiliser equipment, camera traps and other specialised field gear.
Among the featured displays is Project Black by Thyadi, which documents 18 species of snakes found in Andhra Pradesh. The collection includes the king cobra and the Brahminy blind snake, one of the smallest snake species.
The project highlights the State’s snake diversity and the varied habitats they occupy.
The organisers said the exhibition also aims to give visitors an insight into wildlife conservation and field protection efforts.
