Railway officer completes Vizag Half Marathon

South Coast Railway Principal Chief Operations Manager (PCOM) Vineet Kumar completed the 21.1-km half marathon at the DCB Bank Vizag Half Marathon 2026, held at GITAM University here on Sunday.

Kumar clocked a net time of 3:12:19, according to the provisional timing released by the organisers. The timings are subject to change once the final results are published.

The achievement is significant because he is the first South Coast Railway officer to complete a 21.1-km half marathon, according to railway authorities. A half marathon is a demanding test of stamina and preparation, and finishing the full distance is considered a notable accomplishment for any recreational runner.

The event, organised by the Visakhapatnam Track and Road Runners Association (VTRA), drew runners across various categories. [Add the number of participants or categories, if available.]

South Coast Railway has highlighted Kumar’s feat as an example of fitness, discipline and endurance. His participation is also expected to encourage railway officers and staff to adopt healthier lifestyles and place greater importance on physical fitness, particularly given the long working hours and demanding schedules that come with railway operations.

South Coast Railway officials congratulated Kumar on the achievement and wished him continued success in his fitness journey.
