Symbiosis Law School wins national moot court competition

Symbiosis Law School, Pune, won the Dr. M.V.V.S. Murthi National Moot Court Competition, organised by GITAM School of Law at the GITAM Deemed to be University campus. Bhopal Law University was the runner-up in the three-day event, which concluded on Saturday.

The competition drew teams from 34 law colleges across the country.

S. Ramachandra Rao of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar College of Law, Andhra University, won the Best Researcher award, while Ashna Pabha of Lloyd School of Law was adjudged Best Speaker. The Best Memorial award went to the School of Legal Studies, Kerala.

Justice Y. Lakshmana Rao of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, the chief guest at the valedictory ceremony, urged law graduates to uphold social responsibility and pursue lifelong learning. He described moot court competitions as valuable preparation for legal practice and highlighted the diverse career opportunities available to law graduates.

Prof. Manoj Kumar Sinha, Vice-Chancellor of Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur; Prof. R. Venkata Rao, Vice-Chancellor of India International University of Legal Education and Research, Goa; and Prof. Y. Gautam Rao, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of GITAM, urged students to uphold professional ethics and work towards justice for marginalised communities.

Dr. Moumita Sen Chakrabarti, Director of GITAM School of Law, said the GITAM Moot and Advocacy Committee had organised the competition annually for the past six years in memory of the institution’s founding president, the late Dr. M.V.V.S. Murthi. The event gives students practical exposure to courtroom procedures and strengthens their advocacy skills, she said.

Assistant Professors Dr. L. Ashish Kumar and Faseena Khatoon of GITAM School of Law, along with other faculty members and students, attended the ceremony.
