Vizag Comic Con brings together fans of comics, gaming and pop culture

The maiden edition of Vizag Comic Con opened at the Kalam Convention Centre on Saturday, bringing together comic book enthusiasts, cosplayers, gamers and pop-culture fans for a celebration of art, entertainment and popular characters.

Film director and screenwriter Meher Ramesh attended the event, which featured artist displays, merchandise stalls, gaming activities and interactive attractions. The convention gave visitors a chance to explore different aspects of comic book culture and interact with creators and fellow enthusiasts.

Artist Alley was among the attractions, featuring creators and publishers such as Holy Cow Entertainment and Yali Dream Creations, who presented their work to visitors.

Cosplayers dressed as fictional characters, including Captain America, Rapunzel and Anya from Spy x Family, added colour to the event. Visitors also explored virtual reality attractions and took part in gaming activities.

The entertainment programme featured comedy performances by Gokul Kumar and Vivek Muralidharan. The Fluteboxers also performed, while Kvizzing with KV hosted a pop-culture quiz that tested participants’ knowledge of entertainment and fictional characters.

The two-day event will conclude on Sunday with a cosplay contest, giving participants another chance to showcase their costumes and portrayals of favourite characters. Sunday’s musical lineup will feature performances by The 9TEEN, Vizag-based hip-hop act C-Shora and Telugu rapper Roll Rida.

The convention brings comics, cosplay, gaming, and live entertainment together under one roof, allowing fans to celebrate their shared interest in popular culture.
