AMCA project in Puttaparthi marks new era for Rayalaseema: Union Minister

Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu on Friday said the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project in Puttaparthi represents a historic milestone for the Rayalaseema region, underscoring Andhra Pradesh’s rising stature in the defence and aerospace sectors.

Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony, he noted that Puttaparthi, long associated with the spiritual legacy of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, is now set to emerge as a centre for advanced fighter aircraft development and drone-related technologies.

He said Sri Sathya Sai Baba had placed Puttaparthi on the global map through Prasanthi Nilayam as a centre for peace, and added that the AMCA initiative now brings a new dimension of national security and technological progress to the region.

Rammohan Naidu also highlighted the State’s expanding drone ecosystem, pointing out that India’s first Drone Testing Sandbox Facility is coming up at Kurnool airport. He further said a dedicated Drone City is also planned at Orvakal.

He credited Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s vision for attracting major strategic investments, stating that Andhra Pradesh is fast emerging as a preferred destination for defence and technology-driven industries.
