Anitha Reviews ‘Abhaya’ Complaints
Home Minister V. Anitha on Thursday reviewed complaints lodged by students through the newly introduced ‘Abhaya’ complaint box at the Zilla Parishad High School here, assuring them that their concerns would be addressed and strict action taken against those troubling them.
The complaint box is part of the Anakapalli police’s ‘Abhaya’ programme, launched last month to strengthen the safety of students and women. Installed at various schools, the boxes provide students, particularly girls, with a safe and confidential means of bringing their problems to the notice of the police.
Ms. Anitha assured the students that their complaints would be taken seriously and necessary action would be initiated. She said the initiative was intended not only to address safety concerns but also to build students’ confidence in the police.
Later, the Home Minister visited the Nakkapalli Government Hospital and inspected various wards. She interacted with patients and enquired about the medical services and facilities being provided to them.
During her visit to the paediatric ward, Ms. Anitha interacted with children and distributed baby kits. She said the government was taking steps to upgrade the Nakkapalli Government Hospital into a 100-bed facility soon.
She also announced plans to establish trauma care centres at the hospital to strengthen emergency medical services and provide timely treatment to people in Nakkapalli and the surrounding areas.
Ms. Anitha subsequently launched the ‘Thalli Bidda’ Express at the hospital. As part of the launch, she travelled in the vehicle with Lakshmi Durga, who had recently delivered a baby at the hospital, to her native village of Konavanipalem.
The ‘Thalli Bidda’ Express is aimed at facilitating the safe transportation of new mothers and their newborns from hospitals to their homes.
