City Police Gear Up for IFR, Milan and IONS Events
With just weeks remaining before the city hosts three high-profile international naval events, Commissioner of Police Shankabratha Bagchi chaired a preparatory meeting on Saturday (January 17, 2026) to review security and traffic arrangements for the International Fleet Review (IFR), Milan, and the IONS Conclave of Chiefs, scheduled for February 14 to 25, 2026.
The meeting, held at the Police Conference Hall, was attended by senior Navy officials, Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), Additional DCPs (ADCPs), Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), and the concerned Circle Inspectors.
Officials were given a detailed presentation on the upcoming programmes, followed by extensive discussions on police bandobast, security deployment, event venues, parking zones, and proposed no-drone areas. The movement plan for foreign delegates, visits by dignitaries, and key programmes was also reviewed, with special focus on VIP movements and road routes earmarked for important guests.
Stressing the need for coordinated and foolproof arrangements, Mr. Bagchi directed officers to ensure the events are conducted smoothly without any lapses. He instructed the appointment of nodal officers and coordinators, the creation of WhatsApp coordination groups, joint operations planning, tighter traffic management, and the establishment of a joint command and control system for integrated monitoring.
