Global Flavours Unite at AU Food Fest
The Andhra University Convention Centre lawns came alive on Sunday as students from across the globe gathered for the ‘World Flavours – One University’ food festival. The vibrant event, part of the university’s centenary celebrations, turned the campus into a lively global village.
The university organised the festival in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation. As a result, the event blended learning with cultural exchange beyond classrooms.
Vice-Chancellor G.P. Rajasekhar inaugurated the festival. He emphasised that food connects people across borders. Moreover, he said the platform helps students share their culture and build mutual understanding.
Students from 38 countries actively took part in the festival. They set up stalls and prepared traditional dishes from their homelands. Visitors, therefore, enjoyed a wide range of authentic global cuisines, from continental to Asian and African delicacies.
In addition, the organisers set up 18 more stalls with support from the AU Department of Food and Nutrition and the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation. These stalls showcased vegetarian snacks, Andhra specialities, and nutritious indigenous foods.
The festival drew students, faculty, locals, and food lovers throughout the day. As a result, the venue buzzed with cultural exchanges, lively conversations, and shared experiences.
Overall, the event stood out as a key highlight of the centenary celebrations. It also reflected Visakhapatnam’s growing role as a hub for global education and cultural exchange.
