South Coast Railway steps up drive for corruption-free administration

South Coast Railway (SCoR) reaffirmed its commitment to corruption-free administration, transparency and accountability in railway operations as it concluded Vigilance Awareness Week 2026 under the theme ‘Probity for Prosperity’.

The week-long campaign, which concluded on Saturday (October 31), focused on strengthening preventive vigilance, promoting ethical conduct among railway employees and ensuring greater accountability in public service.

SCoR General Manager Sandeep Mathur presented awards and mementos to the winners and runners-up of various competitions at the valedictory function. He appreciated the enthusiastic participation of railway employees in the awareness programmes.

The observance began on October 26 at the zonal headquarters, the Deck Building, where Mathur administered the Integrity Pledge to principal heads of departments, senior officials and staff. Deputy Vigilance Officer Ch. V. Karunya coordinated the inaugural programme.

As part of the campaign, the railway zone organised seminars, interactive workshops, debates, essay-writing contests and drawing competitions to sensitise employees to the importance of preventive vigilance, individual responsibility and administrative accountability.

Similar awareness programmes and pledge-taking ceremonies were held across the railway zone to reinforce ethical practices and promote transparency at all administrative levels.

Vigilance Awareness Week is observed annually around October 31, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The initiative also aims to encourage public participation in efforts to build a corruption-free society.
