Fake currency racket busted in M.R. Peta; four arrested

The M.R. Peta police arrested four persons on Friday for allegedly attempting to exchange colour photocopies of ₹500 currency notes for genuine cash. Photocopied notes with a total face value of ₹66 lakh and a dummy pistol were seized from them.

The arrested persons were identified as P. Kondababu (26) of Araku; B. Sai (25) and Durga Prasad (24), both of Salur; and V. Dinesh (23) of Parvathipuram Manyam district.

Addressing a press conference, East Sub-Division ACP K. Lakshmana Murthy said the arrests were made during inspections of hotels and lodges as part of security measures ahead of the local body elections.

Acting on specific information about a suspected fake currency racket operating from a hotel near Jagadamba Junction, a police team led by Sub-Inspector A. Manoj Kumar raided the premises and arrested the suspects.

During a search of the hotel room, police seized 200 bundles of colour photocopies of ₹500 notes, each containing 66 notes. A dummy pistol was also recovered from a bag.

The ACP said the accused allegedly admitted during preliminary interrogation to being part of a network that exchanged photocopied notes for genuine cash. They were reportedly operating in coordination with other persons, and police are investigating the possible involvement of others in the racket.

I used semicolons in the second paragraph so the list of names is easier to follow. I also merged the last two paragraphs, but you can keep them separate if you prefer.
