Collector Calls for Greener Future on World Environment Day
District Collector M. Abhishikt Kishore called upon citizens to act responsibly in protecting the environment, controlling pollution, and conserving natural resources. He stressed that building a clean and green future for the next generation is a shared responsibility.
He released an environmental awareness poster, prepared by the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB), at the Collectorate conference hall on Wednesday to mark World Environment Day 2026, where he was joined by Police Commissioner Sankhabrata Bagchi and other senior officials in unveiling the poster.
Titled “Inspired by Nature – For Climate, For Our Future,” the poster highlights major environmental challenges, including plastic pollution, air and noise pollution, soil and water contamination, and construction and demolition waste management.
It also promotes eco-friendly practices such as large-scale tree plantation, discouragement of single-use plastics, waste segregation at source, water conservation, promotion of sustainable transport, and protection of soil health.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at strengthening public awareness of environmental protection and encouraging sustainable lifestyle choices. They added that a clean environment leads to healthier living, greener communities, wider adoption of renewable energy, and long-term sustainable development.
Senior officials, including APPCB officer Mukundarao, EPDCL CMD Immdi Prithvitej, Joint Collector Gobbila Vidhyadhari, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg, VMRDA Commissioner Tej Bharat, DCPs Latha Madhuri and Manikanta, District Revenue Officer Vishweshwara Nayudu, and RDO Sheshasailaja, were present at the event.
