KGH offers ₹68-lakh cancer treatment free under landmark clinical trial
King George Hospital (KGH) has launched a clinical trial offering advanced immunotherapy treatment free of cost to eligible patients diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer.
Under the study, patients aged between 18 and 65 years will receive an immunotherapy drug worth about ₹4 lakh per cycle at no cost. A total of 17 cycles will be administered once every three weeks over a period of one year.
K. Shilpa, Founder and Head of the Department of Medical Oncology and Principal Investigator of the trial, said the initiative would provide access to a treatment that is otherwise unaffordable for many patients.
KGH Superintendent I. Vani said the hospital had become the only government cancer centre in Andhra Pradesh to conduct the clinical trial. Describing it as a landmark initiative, she urged eligible patients to avail themselves of the opportunity.
The trial is expected to benefit patients requiring long-term treatment while strengthening advanced cancer care and clinical research facilities at the hospital.
