Visakhapatnam police introduce QR code facility to track PVC applications
In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Visakhapatnam City Police have introduced a QR code-based facility to help applicants track the status of their Police Verification Certificate (PVC) applications without making repeated visits to police offices.
The facility was developed under the direction of Visakhapatnam City Police Commissioner Shankabrata Bagchi, keeping in mind the convenience of applicants seeking PVCs for employment in various State and Central government defence establishments in the city.
Addressing a press conference at the police conference hall here on Saturday, Mr Bagchi said the City Special Branch (CSB) issues Police Verification Certificates to individuals required to undergo police verification for employment in defence and other designated government establishments.
Around 50 to 60 applicants from different parts of the city visit the CSB office every day to submit PVC applications. They were also required to visit the office again to enquire about the progress of their applications, causing inconvenience and loss of time, he said.
To address the issue, the City Police have integrated a PVC status-tracking facility into the Visakhapatnam City Police website. A QR code has also been introduced to give applicants quick access to the service.
Applicants who have submitted a PVC application can scan the QR code provided by the City Police. The code will take them directly to the designated PVC status page on the Visakhapatnam City Police website.
They can then enter the mobile phone number provided in their application to instantly check its status, Mr Bagchi said.
