Visakhapatnam to host World Food India regional edition on July 9, 10

Visakhapatnam will host a regional edition of the World Food India summit on July 9 and 10, bringing together stakeholders from southern States to focus on investment, innovation, and collaboration in the food processing sector.

The event will be held at the Andhra University College of Engineering grounds. Officials said it will bring together representatives from food processing, food technology, export, and investment sectors. The Government of Andhra Pradesh will host the programme, with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) acting as the nodal agency.

States including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka, along with the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Puducherry, are expected to participate.

The summit aims to attract investments into the food processing sector, showcase modern technologies, promote industry partnerships, and expand export opportunities. It also seeks to strengthen the State’s food processing ecosystem, create value addition for farmers, and encourage startups, organisers said.

Exhibitions featuring advanced technologies and products from participating States will be part of the two-day event.

AP Food Processing Society CEO G. Shekhar Babu said the summit would act as an important platform for sectoral growth. “It will bring together stakeholders across the food value chain and open up new opportunities for investment and collaboration,” he said.

The summit will be inaugurated by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, along with Central and State Ministers and representatives from southern States, officials said.

A preliminary review meeting on arrangements for the event was held at the Collectorate meeting hall on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Joint Collector Gobbilla Vidhyadhari.

General Manager Hanumanayak, Central government representative Surender Singh, District Revenue Officer M. Vishweshwaranad, FICCI representatives, and officials of various nodal agencies attended the meeting.

A district official said coordination among departments would be crucial for the successful conduct of the event. “Seamless coordination between the district administration and all stakeholders is essential to ensure the smooth conduct of the summit,” the official said.

Officials reviewed inter-departmental coordination and logistical preparedness for the two-day programme and stressed the need for collective efforts to ensure its successful organisation.
