Visakhapatnam to Launch First International Cruise on July 15

Visakhapatnam is set to enter the global cruise tourism map with its first international cruise departure on July 15, marking a major milestone for Andhra Pradesh’s travel and tourism sector.

The maiden 14-day voyage by Cordelia Cruises will sail from Visakhapatnam to Chennai, Phuket, Langkawi, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore, before concluding on July 28.

According to the schedule, the vessel will leave Visakhapatnam on July 15 and reach Chennai on July 18 after two days at sea. It will then proceed to Phuket, Thailand, arriving on July 22, where passengers will get an extended stay to explore the destination.

The cruise will next call at Langkawi on July 24, followed by Port Klang on July 26, providing access to Kuala Lumpur. It will arrive in Singapore on July 27, with final disembarkation on July 28.

Passengers will also have several sea days to enjoy onboard entertainment, dining, spa facilities, and leisure activities.

K. Vijay Mohan, President of the Tours and Travels Association of Andhra, said the launch would be a proud moment for the State and a major step in establishing Visakhapatnam as an international maritime tourism destination.

He thanked N. Chandrababu Naidu for encouraging efforts to bring international cruise operations to the city.

Travellers have been advised to keep passports valid for at least six months. Thailand and Malaysia offer visa-on-arrival facilities for eligible passengers, while Singapore requires prior visa arrangements.

Tourism stakeholders believe the initiative will strengthen Visakhapatnam’s profile in the global cruise sector and create new opportunities for Andhra Pradesh’s tourism and hospitality industries.
