Vizag Cruise Terminal Showcased at Global Maritime Event

The Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has put the spotlight on India’s expanding maritime and cruise tourism ambitions at Seatrade Cruise Global 2026, held in Miami, USA, one of the world’s leading cruise industry events.

M. Angamuthu, Chairperson of VPA, led a high-level delegation to the four-day event held from April 13 to 16. The delegation presented the Vizag International Cruise Terminal as a key infrastructure project aligned with the Government of India’s Cruise Bharat Mission, aimed at strengthening cruise connectivity and boosting tourism across coastal cities.

Officials highlighted Visakhapatnam’s strategic location on the eastern coast and its growing importance in the global shipping and passenger cruise network. They positioned the new international cruise terminal as a potential gateway for cruise tourism in South Asia, capable of handling increased passenger traffic and serving as a key stopover point for international cruise liners.

The delegation actively engaged with some of the world’s major cruise operators, including Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean International, Carnival Cruise Line, and MSC Cruises. These meetings focused on exploring long-term partnerships and improving India’s integration into global cruise itineraries.

Discussions also centred on developing new maritime routes that would include Indian ports such as Visakhapatnam, to increase inbound cruise tourism and create wider economic benefits for coastal regions. According to an official release issued here on Thursday, these engagements are expected to open up opportunities for increased foreign tourist arrivals and stronger global visibility for Indian cruise infrastructure.
