Moganali Waterfall opens to tourists with tribal-led development

The Moganali Waterfall in Manyam district is now open to visitors, with full amenities and a focus on tribal-led initiatives, district collector Prabhakar Reddy announced on Thursday.

The site, located near Tadikonda in Gummalakshmi Puram mandal, was inaugurated in the presence of government whip and Kurupam MLA Toyaka Jagadeeswari. The collector performed a puja, purchased the first entry ticket, flagged off a celebratory bike rally, and opened local stalls run by tribal entrepreneurs.

Describing Manyam as a “fortress of waterfalls,” Mr. Reddy said the administration is working to make each site accessible to tourists. Moganali Waterfall now features pagodas, stairs, slides, swimming areas, and snack stalls. Visitors can also purchase locally grown fruits and vegetables. A tribal deity has been installed to enhance the cultural experience.

Plans are underway to introduce adventure sports, including rope-assisted rock climbing and child-safe swimming zones. Mr. Reddy highlighted the active participation of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in cleaning the site and running shops. All vendors have been registered under the entrepreneurship programme, with further support planned through PMEGP loans.

He added that tribal youths and self-help group members would be prioritised for employment across all tourist sites. To improve access, local bikers will transport tourists from nearby bus stands. Certified bikers will be listed on the district website, and a tourism control point will be established to manage the influx of visitors.
