City police arrest 104 in 91 property offence cases, recover assets worth ₹47.42 lakh

The city police arrested 104 people in connection with 91 property offence cases in July and recovered stolen property worth ₹47.42 lakh, Commissioner of Police Shankabratha Bagchi said on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference at the police conference hall, Bagchi said 106 property offence cases were reported in the city during July. Of these, the police detected 91 cases using technical methods, he said.

The recovered property included 491.62 grams of gold, 1,645.6 grams of silver and ₹2.14 lakh in cash. The police also recovered 423 missing mobile phones worth ₹63.45 lakh, the commissioner said.

The detected cases included two robberies, three daytime house burglaries, seven nighttime house burglaries, six snatching cases, 40 motorcycle thefts and five autorickshaw thefts, among others, Bagchi said.

As part of preventive measures, the police installed 363 CCTV cameras at various locations across the city in July. They also conducted 237 crime-awareness meetings during the month, he said.
