Collector calls for tribal support for eco-tourism at Vanjangi and Madagada
District Collector A.S. Dinesh Kumar has urged tribal communities to support eco-friendly tourism projects at Vanjangi, also called ‘Meghala Kondalu,’ and the Madagada viewpoint. He assured that all development will benefit locals while protecting the environment.
The Collector held a meeting on Wednesday with tribal leaders and local representatives from Vanjangi, Lagisapalli, Kaderu, Madagada, and Pakanaguda villages. The discussions focused on plans to develop Vanjangi in the Paderu Forest Division and Madagada in the Araku Forest Division.
Vanjangi and Madagada have become popular hill destinations, attracting tourists from Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring states. The Collector noted that while the government plans to improve facilities, some locals have concerns due to misinformation.
“All projects will be developed under the Forest Protection Committee and in coordination with Forest, Revenue, and Panchayat Raj departments. These sites are in reserved forests, so every step will involve local communities and protect the environment. The projects will create jobs and improve living standards,” Mr. Dinesh Kumar said.
The district administration will continue consultations to gather public feedback and explore community-based eco-tourism initiatives. The Collector also urged residents not to believe rumours and assured that their opinions will guide all stages of development.
ITDA Project Officer T. Pooja, DFO P.V. Sandeep Reddy, and sarpanches of the concerned panchayats attended the meeting.
