DRM Lauds Ticket-Checking Drive for Boosting Revenue

Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Lalit Bohra has lauded the ticket-checking teams of the Waltair Division, East Coast Railway, for their exemplary efforts in a recent crackdown on ticketless travel. The drive, which targeted major stations and trains under the division’s jurisdiction, has yielded significant results in terms of both passenger discipline and railway revenue.

“Ensuring that passengers travel with valid tickets is essential to maintaining the integrity of the rail system and safeguarding revenue,” Bohra said, while commending the staff for their dedication. “Their consistent efforts play a crucial role in fostering a safe and fair travel environment for all.”

The operation, conducted under the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager K Pavan Kumar, involved 197 staff members across the division. The extensive campaign focused on detecting unauthorized travel, with a total of 1,586 violations identified. These included ticketless travel, irregular tickets, and unbooked luggage. As a result, fines amounting to Rs. 8,45,735 were collected during the course of the drive.

In addition to the crackdown, the division saw a notable rise in earnings from ticket-checking activities. In October 2025, the division collected Rs. 2,41,10,000 from 46,930 ticket violations, marking a significant year-on-year increase. This is up from Rs. 2,05,55,000 earned from 41,940 cases during the same period last year.

Bohra acknowledged the commercial team for their continued efforts in ensuring compliance and boosting revenue collection. “The increased earnings are a testament to the hard work and commitment of the ticket-checking teams,” he said. “These results not only reflect improved enforcement of railway regulations but also contribute to better overall passenger experience.”

Bohra also urged passengers to do their part in supporting the smooth functioning of Indian Railways. “We appeal to all passengers to travel with valid tickets. Their cooperation is essential in creating a disciplined, secure, and dignified travel experience for everyone,” he added.
