Armenia Backs Trade Growth, Highlights India Partnership
Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan praised India for fostering meaningful dialogue to strengthen bilateral and regional economic ties. Speaking at the India–Europe Business Partnership Roundtable on Thursday, part of the CII 30th Partnership Summit, he highlighted Armenia’s commitment to expanding international trade and promoting sustainable economic growth.
Papoyan outlined Armenia’s ongoing reforms, emphasizing major infrastructure modernization projects. He cited the Strategic Development Agenda 2050, which focuses on sustainable growth through investments in green energy and inclusive technologies. These initiatives, he said, are crucial for achieving balanced, long-term development.
The Minister also announced a new dry port project, featuring a state-of-the-art logistics hub aimed at streamlining trade and enhancing Armenia’s role in regional and global markets.
Reaffirming Armenia’s commitment to working closely with India and European nations, Papoyan stressed a vision centered on innovation, sustainability, and shared prosperity.
Amit Kalyani, Chairman of the CII Europe Council, urged European investors to explore opportunities in India, particularly in Andhra Pradesh. He lauded the state’s progress under Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and highlighted the strategic importance of India–Europe partnerships in maritime trade and shipbuilding.
Other speakers at the event included Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, CII President Designate Mr. Mukundan, CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee, Clemence Kopeikin of FyrstGen Holding Limited, and Professor Bertram Lohmüller from Germany.
