King George Hospital tops State in OP services
King George Hospital (KGH), Visakhapatnam, ranked first among Government General Hospitals in Andhra Pradesh for outpatient (OP) services in December, State Medical and Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav said on Saturday. He called it commendable that the hospital exceeded the department’s targets.
The Minister spoke after a review meeting at NTR University of Health Sciences here that lasted nearly seven hours. Hospital superintendents, principals of medical colleges, and administrators participated in the meeting, during which 21 key issues related to hospital administration and healthcare delivery were discussed.
Mr. Satyakumar said greater focus should be placed on improving patient services in government hospitals. He noted that KGH had not only secured the top position in outpatient services but had also seen a decline in the number of complaints received through the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) compared with the past.
Stating that about 70% of patients at KGH had given positive feedback, he instructed officials to take measures to further improve patient satisfaction.
Expressing concern over doctors not reporting for duty, the Minister said fresh notices should be issued to such doctors. He directed that those who failed to respond be surrendered to the Director of Medical Education (DME) and warned that action, including removal from service, would be initiated if necessary.
He also said hospital and doctor performance would be monitored continuously through real-time systems in the coming days. The Minister reviewed the services being provided at KGH, including the implementation of e-Office, and appreciated Superintendent I. Vani and Administrator B.V. Ramana for their efforts.
