AWARE platform to track seasonal diseases in real time
The Andhra Pradesh government will deploy the Advanced Warning Advisory for Resilient Ecosystem (AWARE) platform of the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) to monitor seasonal diseases in real time and take preventive action quickly.
Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav said the initiative, taken up on the directions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, would help identify disease-prone regions at an early stage by combining historical trends with live data for faster response.
Under the AWARE platform, the severity and potential spread of communicable diseases will be analysed at the primary stage, enabling timely intervention. Data from the past five to six years will be integrated with current inputs to track diseases such as dengue, malaria and typhoid, village- and secretariat-wise.
Officials said seasonal illnesses linked to changing weather conditions would be closely monitored, and precautionary measures suggested in advance using RTGS technical capabilities. Personnel from the Directorate of Secondary Health and Medical Education have been trained to use the platform for planning and response.
The system continuously tracks climatic changes, issues alerts to government machinery and the public, and uses GIS tools to map risks secretariat-wise.
The initiative also covers maternal and child health indicators, compiling details on pregnancies, caesarean deliveries and infant immunisation. During cyclones and other disasters, the platform will help identify high-risk pregnant women for safe evacuation.
Integrated with departments including agriculture, fisheries, environment, water management, satellite monitoring and disaster management, the platform is expected to improve preparedness, coordination and timely decision-making across the State.
