CPI(M) Demands Condemnation of US-Israel Iran Strike

CPI(M) Polit Bureau member B.V. Raghavulu on Tuesday demanded that the TDP, JSP, and YSRCP condemn the recent US-Israel attack on Iran.

Speaking at a press conference with party State secretary V. Srinivasa Rao, he criticised the TDP for not pressuring the Centre and the YSRCP for remaining silent. Raghavulu questioned whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi had prior knowledge of the strike, which followed his talks with Israeli leaders, and called for clarification from the government.

He described Iran as a longstanding friend of India and criticised the selective response to international events, warning of potential economic repercussions. He said the strike disrupted ongoing diplomatic talks with Iran and condemned attacks on schools, resulting in student deaths.

Raghavulu announced a protest march and public meeting in Delhi on March 24 against the Union government’s policies, including the Labour Codes, Electricity Amendment Bill, Nuclear Liability Bill, and the proposed Seed Bill. He also criticised the reported imposition of an 18% US tax.

At the press meet, Srinivasa Rao condemned the arrests of thousands of Anganwadi workers protesting for wage hikes, alleging that women were forcibly detained and transported across the State, calling the action “undemocratic.”
