Odisha Governor inaugurates CT scan facility in Vizianagaram
Odisha Governor Kambhampati Haribabu on Wednesday inaugurated a new Computed Tomography (CT) scan facility at Sri Gurudeva Charitable Trust Hospital in Mangalampalem of Kothavalasa mandal in Vizianagaram district.
He also formally opened the Aarogyasri ward set up at the hospital and distributed artificial limbs to physically challenged persons at a programme attended by local representatives, doctors, and members of the charitable trust.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Haribabu said access to affordable diagnostic services remains a major challenge for economically weaker sections. The CT scan facility, being offered at a nominal charge, would ease the financial burden on poor patients who often delay or avoid essential tests due to high costs, he observed. Early diagnosis through CT imaging would help doctors assess medical conditions accurately and provide timely and appropriate treatment, he added.
The Governor noted that charitable institutions play a vital role in strengthening healthcare delivery in semi-urban and rural areas. He appreciated the efforts of trust founder Raparthi Jagadish Babu for expanding medical services in North Andhra and extending support to physically challenged persons through rehabilitation initiatives such as the distribution of artificial limbs.
Hospital authorities said the new CT scan unit and the Aarogyasri ward are expected to benefit patients from surrounding villages who previously had to travel to Visakhapatnam or other urban centres for advanced diagnostic facilities.
