A.P. aims to emerge as global hub for quantum tech, AI: Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said the State aims to emerge as a global hub for advanced technologies such as quantum computing and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Speaking at the Raisina Dialogue on the theme “Technology, Governance and the Future”, Mr. Naidu said these technologies will reshape governance, economies and daily life. The Observer Research Foundation (ORF) and the Ministry of External Affairs jointly organised the event in New Delhi.

He said Andhra Pradesh is attracting major investments in the technology sector. Global firms are showing growing interest in the State.

Mr. Naidu cited Google’s plan to set up a 1-GW data centre in Visakhapatnam with an investment of about $15 billion.

The Chief Minister said Amaravati will soon host a quantum computer. He added that the system will become operational by the end of 2026. The project will help Andhra Pradesh gain global attention in the technology sector.

Mr. Naidu said the State also plans to play a role in the manufacturing and supply of quantum computers.

He said Artificial Intelligence will soon become part of everyday life and business operations. “There will be no area untouched by AI and related technologies,” he said.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of data in the digital economy. He said data has become a major economic asset. Governments must use it effectively, he added.

Mr. Naidu also referred to India’s tradition of dialogue, tolerance and cooperation. He said cooperative federalism between the Centre and States has supported strong economic growth. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for strengthening this approach.

The Chief Minister also flagged demographic challenges in South India. He spoke about the State’s Population Management Policy to address declining fertility rates.

During the discussion, ORF President Samir Saran proposed an ORF Centre for the South in Amaravati. Mr. Naidu welcomed the proposal and assured full support from the State government.
