Pandrangi to be developed as major tourism hub
Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Tuesday announced that Pandrangi, the birthplace of legendary freedom fighter Alluri Sitharama Raju, would be developed into a major tourism destination with improved infrastructure and heritage facilities. He visited the village along with BJP state president P. V. N. Madhav and reviewed the proposed plans for the area.
During the visit, the MLA said the government was preparing a comprehensive tourism circuit connecting several important historical, cultural, and spiritual landmarks in the region. These include Ananta Padmanabha Swamy Temple, Sri Krishnadevaraya Victory Pillar, Pandrangi, the Vijayarama Raju Memorial, and Ranganatha Swamy Temple. He said the circuit would help attract tourists, preserve the region’s rich heritage, and generate employment opportunities for local youth.
Recalling the immense sacrifice of Alluri Sitharama Raju during India’s freedom struggle, Mr Srinivasa Rao said the revolutionary leader continued to inspire generations with his courage and patriotism. He noted that a district had already been named after him in recognition of his services to the nation. The MLA further said the upcoming Bhogapuram Airport would also be named after Alluri Sitharama Raju to honour his legacy.
Highlighting infrastructure development in the constituency, he said construction of the Pandrangi bridge was progressing rapidly. He expressed confidence that the long-pending aspiration of residents for better connectivity and easier access to the village would soon become a reality.
Earlier, the MLA visited the birthplace memorial of Alluri Sitharama Raju and a nearby pond, where he discussed measures for the beautification, maintenance, and development of the sites. Local leaders and residents accompanied him during the programme.
