KGH Must Live Up To Its Legacy, Says Collector
District Collector M Abhishikth Kishore on Saturday made it unequivocally clear that healthcare delivery at the historic King George Hospital (KGH) must measure up to the institution’s storied reputation, as he undertook a comprehensive inspection of the premier government hospital.
Walking through the corridors of one of Andhra Pradesh’s most prominent medical establishments, the Collector carried out a thorough assessment of the outpatient wing, casualty section, emergency ward, and the laboratories housed in the CSR block. He paused to speak directly with patients, doctors, and support staff to get an unfiltered picture of ground realities.
The inspection was followed by a review meeting at the Superintendent’s office, where heads of departments briefed him on the hospital’s existing facilities, infrastructure gaps, and operational challenges. The Collector closely examined ward capacity, pending development works, the utilisation of modern medical equipment, and other requirements — leaving little room for ambiguity.
Mr. Kishore assured those present that issues falling within district-level jurisdiction would be addressed at the earliest, while matters demanding State-level intervention would be tabled at the upcoming hospital development committee meeting.
Invoking KGH’s long-standing legacy, the Collector appealed to the medical fraternity to uphold standards and ensure quality treatment, particularly for the poor and underprivileged who depend heavily on public healthcare. He also suggested establishing a dedicated hospital stamp and logo at the OP section to reinforce the institution’s identity.
Hospital Superintendent I. Vani, Deputy Superintendent Chandrasekharam Naidu, Chief Dietitian Ramanamurthy, RMOs Bangarayya and Shilpa, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
