AP Chambers Seeks Stronger Trade Ties with Bangladesh
A delegation of the Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (AP Chambers), headed by its president Bhaskara Rao Potluri, called on Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner Md. Alimuzzaman in Chennai on Monday, with both sides expressing keenness to bolster bilateral trade relations.
Mr. Potluri showcased the State’s investment potential, stating that Andhra Pradesh offers a robust, investor-friendly ecosystem with several major projects currently in the pipeline. He noted that the State holds considerable export potential across sectors such as spices, shrimp, chillies, turmeric, fruits, Araku coffee, cereals, cotton, and yarn.
The delegation also highlighted the strategic significance of Visakhapatnam Port, describing it as an ideal gateway for trade with Bangladesh, given its strong connectivity and logistics infrastructure.
To deepen economic engagement, AP Chambers proposed hosting a delegation of Bangladeshi industrialists in the State, with the aim of facilitating direct interactions between industry leaders from both sides and exploring avenues for partnership and collaboration.
Responding positively, Mr. Alimuzzaman said Bangladesh is keen on expanding its trade linkages with Andhra Pradesh and remains open to exploring mutually beneficial opportunities across various sectors.
During the visit, the Deputy High Commissioner also toured a food processing unit, where he was briefed on the State’s strengths in the agro and food processing industries.
