AMTZ recognised as NCVET Awarding Body for MedTech skill certification

The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), has recognised the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) as an Awarding Body (AB-Dual Category) under the NCVET framework, enabling it to assess learners, issue certifications and award qualifications for skill development programmes in the medical device manufacturing sector.

An agreement to this effect was signed on June 15, 2025, in the presence of Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Chairperson, NCVET.

With the recognition, AMTZ is authorised to conduct assessments and issue certifications to learners trained through campuses and training centres owned, operated, or fully managed by the organisation. The recognition also enables AMTZ to deliver skill development programmes aligned with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF).

Representing the AMTZ ecosystem at the signing ceremony were Dilip Kumar Chekuri, Chief Executive Officer, AIC-AMTZ MediValley; and Naresh Nitturi, National Coordinator, Indian Biomedical Skill Consortium. The event was also attended by Prof. Ashok Kumar Gaba, Executive Member, NCVET, and Lt. Col. Vikram Singh Bhati, Director (Recognition), NCVET.

As part of the recognition process, NCVET approved AMTZ’s skill programme “Production Associate – Manufacturing (Medical Device)” at NSQF Level 4.5. The programme has been designed to equip learners with practical skills in medical device manufacturing, with emphasis on quality standards, regulatory compliance, and modern production practices.

Speaking on the occasion, Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and Founder-CEO of AMTZ, said the recognition would help create nationally recognised skill development pathways for the medical technology sector and support India’s ambition of becoming a global hub for medical device manufacturing.

Mr. Chekuri said the recognition would strengthen industry-led training by aligning skill development with the needs of medical device manufacturers and start-ups. Mr. Nitturi said it would help build a competent workforce through structured, industry-relevant certification programmes.

AMTZ said the collaboration with NCVET would strengthen quality-driven skill development and help build a future-ready workforce for the medical device and healthcare technology sectors.
