NTPC Simhadri marks 29th Raising Day

NTPC Simhadri celebrated its 29th Raising Day on Wednesday, commemorating 29 years since its establishment in 1997.

The celebrations began with the hoisting of the NTPC flag and the rendition of the NTPC Geet. A documentary showcasing the station’s 29-year journey, key milestones, achievements, and contributions to power generation was screened on the occasion.

Addressing employees, Head of Project Ayaskanta Jena recalled the station’s major achievements, stating that Unit I was synchronised in a record 39 months on February 22, 2002. He said the successful execution of Stage I earned the International Project Management Association (IPMA) Award for Exemplary Project Management in 2005, making NTPC Simhadri the first Asian company to receive the recognition.

Addressing employees, Head of Project Ayaskanta Jena recalled the station's major achievements, stating that Unit I was synchronised in a record 39 months on February 22, 2002. He said the successful execution of Stage I earned the International Project Management Association (IPMA) Award for Exemplary Project Management in 2005, making NTPC Simhadri the first Asian company to receive the recognition.
Mr. Jena said the station was the first in NTPC to use imported coal and seawater for condenser cooling and ash disposal. He added that the plant had achieved more than 100% ash utilisation for the ninth consecutive year, reflecting its focus on sustainable operations.
Calling upon employees to build on the station's achievements, Mr. Jena said the pursuit of excellence was a continuous process and urged them to strive for higher standards of operational performance.
Executive Director (Engineering) and Regional Executive Director (South) Ajay Sharma, who addressed the gathering virtually, congratulated the employees and described Simhadri as one of NTPC's flagship stations. He appreciated its consistent operational performance and urged the workforce to continue setting higher benchmarks while contributing to the country's growing energy requirements.
General Manager (Maintenance) H.K. Verma, General Manager (VPG) Venkataramana Narayanasetti, heads of departments, representatives of employees' associations and welfare bodies, and employees participated in the celebrations.
