VPA sanctions Rs 46.42 lakh in CSR aid for Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital

The Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has sanctioned Rs 46.42 lakh under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme to provide an uninterrupted power supply at Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital in Naidutota, Visakhapatnam.

The funds will be used to procure and install a 500 KVA generator at the hospital, which will help ensure an uninterrupted power supply for critical diagnostic, surgical and patient-care services.

As part of the project, VPA Secretary M Sankar Babu handed over the sanction order for the first instalment of Rs 23.21 lakh, representing 50% of the sanctioned amount, to Sankar Foundation Deputy General Manager (PR, Corporate Relations & Liaison) K. Bangar Raju at the VPA office on Wednesday.

The generator is expected to strengthen the hospital’s infrastructure and ensure the continuity of essential eye-care services during power disruptions. The facility caters to thousands of beneficiaries.

Sankar Foundation Managing Trustee and CEO A. Krishna Kumar thanked VPA Chairman Jasmeet Singh Bindra, IRTS, for the CSR support. He said the assistance would improve the reliability of the hospital’s services and help ensure that patients receive uninterrupted eye care.

He added that the initiative reflected the port authority’s commitment to improving healthcare outcomes and addressing the needs of the local community.
