Vizag to host India-Sri Lanka ODI on December 13
Cricket fans in the City of Destiny have plenty to celebrate. Visakhapatnam will host an India-Sri Lanka One Day International (ODI) on December 13, bringing the much-awaited Rohit Sharma-Virat Kohli pair back to the city.
The match, originally slated for New Delhi, has been shifted to the Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium after the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to change the venue. The DDCA is understood to have cited air pollution in the national capital. The BCCI is learnt to have accepted the request and allotted the fixture to Visakhapatnam.
Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) secretary Sana Satish Babu thanked the BCCI for the allotment and said the State has a large and passionate cricket-following community. “Unfortunately, we could not get any matches so far in 2026. However, our efforts continued, and finally a match has been allotted to us,” he said.
Mr. Satish Babu said the ACA had begun preparations and would ensure that all necessary arrangements and amenities were in place to make the match a memorable experience for players and spectators.
The stadium last hosted an international match on December 6, 2025, when India played South Africa in an ODI. The December 13 game holds special significance for fans, as Rohit and Kohli now play only the ODI format.
