DGP launches Visakhapatnam City Police website to expand citizen services

Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta on Saturday launched the Visakhapatnam City Police website (https://vizagcitypolice.ap.gov.in/), aimed at strengthening citizen-centric policing and improving access to online services.

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP said Visakhapatnam’s emergence as a knowledge hub requires the police department to continuously adapt to technological changes. He said the new website has been developed to simplify access to police services, particularly for citizens who may face difficulties in navigating conventional complaint mechanisms.

The portal provides services such as reporting lost mobile phones and lodging complaints related to missing persons. The DGP described it as a “dynamic and model platform” that could be replicated by other city police units.

He also highlighted the growing threat of cybercrime, noting that increased dependence on mobile phones has made citizens more vulnerable to online fraud and digital offences. He said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed the police department to strengthen cybercrime response systems. As part of this initiative, a dedicated Cyber War Room will soon operate round-the-clock to handle complaints and assist victims.

Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Shankabratha Bagchi said the website integrates multiple public services to enhance transparency and accessibility in policing.

The portal includes facilities such as e-challan payments, cybercrime complaint registration, complaint status tracking, reporting of missing mobile phones and vehicles, missing persons complaints, public grievance redressal, arms licence information, and details of police stations across the city. It also features a migrant information portal, updates on police initiatives and welfare measures, emergency contact numbers, and official social media updates.

As part of the programme, the DGP also presented Commendation Disc awards to 17 police personnel in recognition of their meritorious service.
