Foundation stone laid for BDL unit in Anakapalli district

The foundation stone for a new unit of Bharat Dynamics Limited was laid at T. Sirasapalli village in Munagapaka mandal of Anakapalli district on Friday.

The project was virtually inaugurated by N. Chandrababu Naidu, Rajnath Singh, and Nara Lokesh. District Collector Vijaya Krishnan, senior defence officials, and public representatives attended the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Krishnan said BDL would establish a Manufacturing, Assembly and Testing (MAT) facility with an investment of nearly ₹489 crore. She said the project would strengthen indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities and contribute to industrial development in the district.

The Collector said the proposed unit was expected to generate direct employment for around 500 persons and indirect employment for nearly 2,000 others. She added that ancillary industries and MSMEs linked to the project were also likely to create additional job opportunities.

Ms. Krishnan thanked residents of Sirasapalli village for their cooperation in the land acquisition process and said eligible residents would be considered for employment opportunities in the upcoming unit. She also appreciated Joint Collector Souryaman Patel for overseeing the land acquisition process.
