Gajuwaka Gets ₹9-cr Garbage Transfer System

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Dr. P. Narayana on Saturday approved a ₹9-crore Garbage Transfer System (GTS) for Gajuwaka to provide a permanent solution to the long-pending dumping yard issue, particularly in Ward No. 76.

Reviewing development works in the Gajuwaka Assembly constituency at the GVMC Zonal Office, the Minister directed officials to adopt scientific waste management practices and modern technologies to improve sanitation and reduce environmental pollution.

The review meeting was attended by TDP state president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg, VMRDA Commissioner Tej Bharat, and other NDA leaders.

Dr. Narayana also approved the modernisation of eight parks across the constituency. The upgraded parks will feature open-air gyms, walking tracks, children’s play areas, improved lighting, efficient drainage, and landscaped green spaces. He directed officials to accord priority to the parks at Harijan Jaggayyapalem and Sheelanagar.

To strengthen sports infrastructure, the government will modernise the Kurmannapalem Indoor Stadium and several playgrounds to provide better facilities for local youth and aspiring athletes.

With traffic volume increasing across Gajuwaka, the Minister instructed officials to expedite road-widening works on key stretches, including the Kakatiya ITI Junction-Shaivani School road, the Jaggu Junction-Y Junction corridor, the Old Gajuwaka Junction-Srinagar APIIC Junction road, Gangavaram Main Road, Vadlapudi Road, the Kurmannapalem-Duvvada Railway Station road, and the Vantillu Junction-Jag Junction corridor.

The government also approved the construction of a Smart Street Vending Market beneath the Kurmannapalem-Duvvada flyover at an estimated cost of ₹4 crore. The facility will accommodate 70 commercial units for street vendors, along with pedestrian walkways and essential civic infrastructure.

As part of the constituency’s urban beautification initiative, Vantillu Junction, Vadlapudi Junction, and Mathrusri Junction will be redesigned as modern, traffic-friendly intersections, the Minister said.
