MP Sribharat bats for AI-driven governance, education reforms
Member of Parliament M. Sri Bharat on Saturday called for wider adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in governance, saying that technology can enhance transparency, improve accountability, and curb corruption in public administration.
Inaugurating the two-day Young Indians Parliament 2026, organised by Young Indians (Yi), an affiliate of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), at GITAM Deemed to be University, Mr. Bharat said that innovation, effective leadership, and transparent governance are driven by a commitment to bringing about positive social change.
Interacting with students on issues such as nation-building, democratic values, educational reforms, and the use of technology, Mr. Bharat said that AI-based systems in local bodies and government offices could significantly improve the functioning of public institutions. The adoption of AI in governance, he said, would make administrative processes more transparent, efficient, and accountable, while reducing the scope for corruption.
Responding to students’ questions, Mr. Bharat stressed the need for greater youth participation in politics and public life. Public service, he said, demands commitment, responsibility, integrity, and a spirit of service. He urged young people to view the challenges confronting society as opportunities to demonstrate leadership and to contribute meaningfully to nation-building. Greater participation by youth in the democratic process, he added, would strengthen the country’s institutions and accelerate its development.
A total of 185 students from schools across Visakhapatnam participated in the event as delegates, representing different States in a simulated Parliament. The exercise gave them first-hand exposure to parliamentary debates, legislative procedures, policy deliberations, and democratic decision-making.
The programme will conclude on Sunday. BJP State president and Rajahmundry MP Daggubati Purandeswari is scheduled to attend the valedictory function as the chief guest and to present prizes to the winners.
