Palla Srinivasa Rao Scales Down Security, Moves Mahanadu Online
TDP State President and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao has voluntarily scaled down his official security cover and convoy protocol, citing the Centre’s call for austerity and fuel conservation amid prevailing geopolitical uncertainties.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to reduce fuel consumption in view of the evolving situation in West Asia, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that public representatives must lead by example in demonstrating restraint and accountability.
As part of the decision, the MLA has returned the bulletproof vehicle allotted to him under Y-category security cover to the police department. He has also opted for a reduced security detail, stating that a smaller deployment of personnel would be sufficient for his official engagements.
Further, Mr. Srinivasa Rao has discontinued green-channel movement and large escort arrangements, choosing instead to tour his constituency in his personal vehicle. He said the move is intended to minimise inconvenience to the public and reduce avoidable government expenditure.
Speaking to the media, he said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s appeal invoking the spirit of “Na Desam–Na Badhyata” (My Nation–My Responsibility) had deeply resonated with him. He added that at a time when the nation calls for collective restraint, every citizen—particularly those in public office—must consciously avoid extravagance and promote a culture of discipline and savings.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao also announced that the Telugu Desam Party’s annual Mahanadu, traditionally held on a grand physical scale, would this year be conducted on digital and online platforms, with greater emphasis on technology-enabled participation and cost-effective organisational practices.
