SCR GM inspects Visakhapatnam–Ichchapuram section
South Coast Railway General Manager Sandeep Mathur on Thursday inspected the Visakhapatnam–Ichchapuram section, reviewing infrastructure works, passenger amenities, safety systems and operational aspects.
This was his first inspection after assuming charge. The visit began at Simhachalam Railway Station, where he reviewed works under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme aimed at upgrading passenger facilities and station infrastructure.
He later visited Kottavalasa, Srikakulam Road, Naupada, Palasa and Ichchapuram stations, reviewing redevelopment works and stressing quality standards and timely completion. He inspected key facilities, including circulating areas, foot overbridges and waiting halls, and interacted with officials.
Mr. Mathur also conducted a window trailing inspection from Ichchapuram to Visakhapatnam, assessing tracks, signalling systems, bridges, curves, road overbridges and station yards, with focus on safety and operational efficiency.
Representatives of public associations and the media submitted representations during the visit. The General Manager assured them that their concerns would be examined as per rules and feasibility.
He was accompanied by Principal Chief Engineer B.S.K. Rajkumar, Principal Chief Signal & Telecom Engineer O.B. Suresh Kumar, Principal Chief Operations Manager Vineet Kumar, Chief Administrative Officer Ankush Gupta and Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra.
