GVMC Chief pushes for speedy clearance of building permissions, LRS cases
Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg on Thursday directed town planning officials to expedite the processing of building permissions, Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) applications, and Transferable Development Rights (TDR) approvals within city limits, directing them to ensure strict adherence to prescribed timelines.
At a detailed review meeting held at the GVMC headquarters conference hall, the Commissioner examined the status of pending applications and expressed concern over delays in the disposal of building permission files and LRS applications.
He noted that numerous applications remained pending at various stages in the town planning wing, inconveniencing applicants. He specifically flagged delays in processing LRS cases under the State government scheme and called for their time-bound clearance.
Mr. Garg instructed officials to scrutinise all applications received through the AP DPMS portal and ensure that complete and verified proposals were forwarded to higher authorities within two days for further processing. He made it clear that files should not be held up beyond the stipulated time frame.
He further directed that LRS applications be taken up on priority for field verification and disposed of promptly in accordance with prescribed norms. He emphasised the need for greater efficiency and transparency in the approval process.
The Commissioner also expressed concern over delays and procedural lapses on the part of town planning officials, surveyors, and Licensed Technical Persons. He warned that negligence and non-compliance with timelines would not be tolerated.
Mr. Garg asked Chief City Planner A. Prabhakar Rao to initiate immediate corrective measures to streamline procedures and improve efficiency in the town planning wing.
The review meeting was attended by City Planner Dhanunjaya Reddy, DCPs Madhusudhana Rao and Ramamohan, ACPs Tirupatirao, Ramalingeswara Reddy, Jhansi, Lakshmi Sabnam Shastri, and Ramakrishna, along with TPVOs, TPBOs, surveyors, and other officials.
