Visakhapatnam Beach Road, port-led industrialisation among key priorities: MP M Sribharat
Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat has called for closer coordination between the Centre and the Andhra Pradesh government to expedite key infrastructure projects and expand industrial and export opportunities in the State.
Several development-related issues were discussed at a meeting with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi, in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Mr. Sribharat said in a social media post.
The proposed development of Visakhapatnam Beach Road was among the issues taken up. The project is expected to improve the city’s infrastructure and boost tourism.
The transfer of salt lands under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) was also discussed to facilitate port-led industrialisation and strengthen Visakhapatnam’s position as an industrial and commercial centre.
Mr. Sribharat underlined the need to improve market access and expand export opportunities for Andhra Pradesh’s agricultural and marine products, particularly chillies, tobacco and aquaculture produce. Wider access to export markets, he said, could help farmers secure better returns and generate additional income.
The proposed Outer Ring Road for Amaravati and an iconic bridge associated with the Polavaram Project were among the other infrastructure proposals discussed.
Mr. Sribharat expressed confidence that sustained coordination between the Centre and the State government would help move the projects forward. Implementing them would improve connectivity, attract industrial investment, promote tourism and create employment opportunities, he said. He stressed the need for coordinated, time-bound action to support the State’s long-term economic development.
