‘Stop & Face Wash’ initiative launched to curb road accidents in Anakapalli
The Anakapalli District Police have launched the “Stop & Face Wash” programme to curb road accidents and improve commuter safety. The initiative comes under the directives of the State DGP and is implemented by District SP Tuhin Sinha.
The campaign targets accidents caused by drowsy driving at night. Nine highway mobile teams are patrolling national highways in the district, conducting special inspections. Drivers of lorries, buses, vans, and cars are advised to stop, wash their faces with water, and drive carefully after midnight. Police officials also urge drivers to think about the safety of their family members while on the road.
To further strengthen road safety, authorities are installing warning boards, radium stickers, lighting, and sand drums at high-risk locations. These measures, along with visible policing, are intended to alert road users and prevent accidents.
District SP Tuhin Sinha said, “These steps are expected to play a significant role in lowering the number of road accidents in the district. We urge all drivers to remain alert and follow safety measures.”
Highway Mobile teams, led by Police Control Room Inspector S. Ramesh, are conducting daily monitoring and inspections to ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain road safety across the district.
